Series II - Mid 1970s
Used it at Ft. Huachuca AZ, US Army Security Agency Test and Evaluation
Center (USATEC) - sounds like a community college :-)

Main language was FORTRAN.

You would not believe what we were able to do with that system (some
probably still classified). We controlled various electronic devices in a
real time fashion (sorry can't specify what type of devices).

See Army Security Agency (ASA), now called the Intelligence and Security
Command (INSCOM), also check the National Security Agency. With these
references, you might get a hint of what we were up to.

I also remember a product called HP Desk Manager (late 1970s early 1980s)
Model HP3000 (various series), using MPE.

Imagine, emailing, electronic personal scheduling and calendar, word
processing, and even faxing right from your computer terminal. Unique idea
at the time, I even received a reprimand from my boss for implementing it.

To quote: "No one will use e-mail; it is a waste of time; that is what the
phone is for."

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Any old HP computer Pictures?

Hi Folks,

I am doing a little intro to Operating Systems with the first year students
and I would like to show them some pictures of HP's to explain that
Microsoft did not invent the computer and the operating system. I have found
lots of IBM, Sperry Univac, etc. Boy lots of memories there!. But I have
not found any for HP. The HP historical web site seems to have skipped over
3000's.

If you can to email them to me please and thank you.
