I was surprised to discover recently that a user must have LOCK access to a
TurboIMAGE database in order to open it in mode 7 or 8. Just having READ
access is not sufficient.

However, LOCK access is not required to open in mode 6.

Can anybody explain why that should be, or where such rules are documented?
The reference manual does talk about the need to pass MPE security checks
when opening a database, but I can't find where it documents exactly what
types of access are required for a given open mode. I'm so used to having
(R,W,L:ANY) on the group and account for databases, that I never stumbled
across this before.

Walter
