Just curious:

Is FTP/iX aware that the first record in the CM KSAM key file contains
the name of the data file?

DSCOPY will actually update this record in the new keyfile during the
transfer.

Hello @ 3000-l,

Re: [HP3000-L] FTP vs.. DSCOPY performance.

FTP was enhanced a long long time ago in a place far far away... to
support transfer of most of the file types "unique" to MPE. This was
achieved by creating a proprietary transfer mode for MPE to MPE
transfers. Documentation on this feature can be found in the FTP "new
functionality" news file FTPDOC.ARPA.SYS... These changes included
successful transfer of CM Ksam and NM Ksam files... The only
outstanding problem with FTP and Ksam that I am aware of is FTP/iX fails
to transfer an empty CM Ksam file.

If you have found a problem with FTP and transfer of a Ksam file, you
should report it to the HP-Response Center.

From what I see here, FTP is a better tool for doing transfers.

The problem I had with it is if you wanted to copy over a KSAM file
or some kind of file that was not a 'text' type, FTP was clueless
about it, but DS knew what to do.

Thx
Brice
