You can check the heartbeat losses by doing a:

lnikcontrol @;status=all which will give you output like:

As Gilles wrote you may have SQE not enabled on your transceivers. If you have
transceivers and they do not have a switch to enable or disable SQE then you
will need to purchase transceivers that support SQE.
