O.K.; I'll officially raise my hand for the record:

Naval Undersea Warfare Center - Division Keyport
Keyport, WA

.. but you can hardly say all that without taking a
breath... so call us NUWCDIV Keyport... or just
NUWC-KPT.

We are running a 959KS/200, supporting production shop
and engineering users for the Navy's Lightweight Torpedo
Programs: Inventory, configuration management, process
control, failure documents, storeroom, etc. Large amount
of NM Transact/iX code and more recently a lot of "C" on
the 3000 server side; MS VC++ on the client side.... [...]44_25Nov199721:27:[log in to unmask]

I left out a few gotcha's.

As Art pointed out, make 2 SLTs as well as 2 backups.

Before making the SLT, I like to re-boot with "GROUP=CONFIG". This way, I
know what group I booted from, I know that I *can* boot from that group, and
I know what group I'm putting on the SLT.

Since I once (waaaay back on MPE/iX 3.0) had to re-created the
NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS file from scratch several times, I now STORE
NMCONFIG.PUB.SYS, BULDJOB1.PUB.SYS, and BULDJOB2.PUB.SYS to a seperate tape
"just in case".

(My nightly backup jobs run BULDACCT before the backups, so all FULL and
PARTIAL backups have current BULDJOBs on them.)

And, I like to have the latest factory SLT, FOS, SUBSYS and patch tapes
handy.
