(To SIGS other than SIGIMAGE - you are being included because there are
issues which may affect you as well! If you receive this more than once,
please forgive us as we are trying to reach as wide an audience as possible)

Attention all users of Image (TurboIMAGE and Image/SQL)!

The annual SIGIMAGE Enhancement ballot is now online. To save trees, and to
(hopefully) make it as easy as possible, there will be no paper ballots this
year, and only a web-based version available.

All users of Image, whether TurboIMAGE or Image/SQL, are encouraged to visit
the site. Before the URL is given, here are some features/details you need
to know.

The ballot is a full-fledged web-based application, which stores its data
(and retrieves data to validate the one ballot/one person rule) in an
Image/SQL database, residing on an HP3000. We did this for the first time
last year to showcase Image on the Web in Action. As a web-based
application however, you need to know that although the web is "stateless" -
we're maintaining state. We maintain it for 20 minutes of inactivity,
therefore, we are asking that when you complete your ballot, please do not
allow 20 minutes to go by with no inactivity, or variables will be released,
as will your connection.

Next - The ballot this year is a bit more organized than last year. When
you first visit, there is a button which will retrieve full descriptions for
most all of the items on the ballot. This will help those folks who would
be confused by the "one liners" on the ballot itself. Feel free to print
this out, so you have an idea of the issues, and where you might put your
votes.

So, without further ado, the URL is http://www.csillc.com/sigimage/ and just
follow the directions. We are asking every Image user to complete a ballot.
Last year, we had 110 and some change -- we're looking for 300 or more
ballots, so after you file yours - tell two co-workers... then let them tell
two. We have the bandwidth -- you need to get the word out to those who may
not subscribe to one of the lists getting this message.

Vote early -- balloting closes, I believe, March 29 for the Interex SIB (Ken
Sletten, SIGImage Chair will correct me if I'm wrong). Balloting may
continue for an additional week as we did last year for SIEC/HP use.

Best Regards,
Joe Geiser
