Frank,

FYI, PVSCOPE is not a product of Lund Performance Solutions.

SCOPE is an old program written by HP to gather performance data. HP's
utility to gather performance data was separate from the utility to
monitor performance data (Glance).

If you own SOS, there is no need for SCOPE.

Personally, (I may be biased here), I would delete it.

Thanks for the info. We have the Vesoft package, so I will look there
for
further help. I suspect from what you tell me of PVSCOPE, it might go
with
SOS from LUND, so it will stay. Your right about the group being quiet.
I
thought I was unsubscribed, the last listing I have was from the
beginning
of December.

Thanks for your help

Frank

Frank,

Welcome to a very quiet list... Must be something to do with this new
year
thingie.

In answer to your questions:

1) No, there is no way that I know of to give you that information.
There
may be something from the VESOFT company (i.e. it's a third party bit of
programming) that may do it but I'm not aware of it.

2) The PVSCOPE program is used by another bit of software to gather
performance data from a running machine. You can get rid of the program
and
group if you wish but I would always recommend backing up anything that
you
are about to PURGE to tape before pressing the button.

Regards and a Happy New Year to you.

Simon Harryman

Subject: [HP3000-L] two questions about HP3000 users

I have two brief questions on HP users This is for a HP3000:

We are going over our user list and have come across a few .SYS logins
we
are questioning

First: Is there a way to tell when a user was added to the system, a
Date /

Time stamp? LISTUSER doesn't show this, is there another command? If
so
what is it.

Second: There is a SCOPE.SYS login that puts us into a SCOPE.SYS group
with

one program, PVSCOPE, in the group. Is this a diagnostic program? If
so
for what.

Thanks in advance for all replies
