We use CALLBACK/3000 from Design/3000 ((503) 585-0512). CALLBACK/3000
consists of software on the 3000 plus a PC-like unit that connects to a DTC
port. CALLBACK controls our modem pool by DOWNing the modem devices in MPE.
When you want to use a modem to dial in, you place a call with a touch-tone
phone to the CALLBACK unit. After entering the correct digital password and
command code via the touch tone phone keypad, the callback unit UPs the
modem associated with the command code for a period of time 5 to 10 minutes
(user-defined). After your modem session disconnects, the CALLBACK unit
DOWNs the modem ports again. In addition to this function, we use it to
page our support people for job aborts, system failures, and computer room
over-temp and power failures.

Subject: Dial back modems - how?

Would like to know:
What can we do that would provide a dial back modem on an HP e3000?

A dial back modem will hang up on a caller and return the call of only valid
users. This reduces the chance of improper access.

Willing to look at vendor solutions.
