My experiences mirror the two responses from Gary and Art below ==> moving to
CD-ROM support greatly decreased the amount of unnecessary documentaion
flowing from HP. And, the CD-ROMs each come with their own recycling
envelope!

The real benefit, however, is that since HP has altered their LaserROM license
to allow you to use it on *multiple* desktops, you can pass along your
multiple CD-ROMs (or the ones from prior versions of MPE/iX) to other
technical staff who have previously had to borrow the manuals from your
bookshelf. Or, if you have a network, put the latest CD-ROM on a CD-tower and
anyone on the network can get to it. (This last "advantage" can also have its
drawbacks -- if there's someone out there who you do not want to have access
to detailed technical knowledge of the 3000. . .)
