What you have is a regular DDS-2 tape drive. Maximum speed about 1
MB/second or 3.5 GB/Hour. You can configure it like a DAT tape. It is an
external model and since SCSI is a chain arrangement, you will need to get
a terminator. Plug the SCSI cable from the CPU to one of the slots and a
terminator in the other. Be careful with the number of SCSI devices on
that chain, and also make sure you give that device a unique SCSI ID. To
verify that, dump your current configuration and look for an unused number.
Finally, is this device going to be faster than the one you currently have?
Who knows, you neglected to tell what you have currently. If it's a
DDS-1, then yes the DDS-2 will be faster.
Kind regards,
Denys. . .

Subject: DAT drive help
My overnight operator just came in a dropped a DAT drive on my desk, asking
"Can we hook this up to the 3000? I bet it is faster than the internal one
we're using."
The drive is an HP SureStore DAT8; Model C1529G. It has two SCSI ports on
the back.
Can I hook this up to my 987? And how would I configure it?
thx
