Regarding :DATA and the allocation of DTC ports or VT connections via PCs
to :FILEs (or LDEVs).

Perhaps the problem to be looked into should be dynamic allocation of
an ldev number to a DTC port or VT on such and such an IP:port# or to
a MAC-level hardware address. Note I mean *dynamic* - with the system
running and not having to reboot. This would create "temporary nailed
ldevs" - perhaps on the Terminal on a DTC, we sould have to "connect" to
the host to complete the connection - so that it would be compatible with
PC management of the DTC ports?

This may be complex to implement, but if it sounds useful, perhaps we
can narrow it down to "do-able" specs?
