Many thanks to Larry "MPE/iX Spoolers 'R' Us^H^HHe" Byler for his
clear explanation of spooler recovery operation with HP-supported
printer connections.

And while I'm at it, my personal thanks to all the many people
who take the time to contribute to HP3000-l. This informal
electronic water cooler has become an invaluable and
indispensable part of my day since I was first able to subscribe
about a year ago.

HP is to be particularly commended for its enlightened approach
in permitting its employees to take part in information exchange
activities such as HP3000-l.

The return on time invested is probably impossible to quantify.
As one speaking from the IS trenches, however, the time spent by
HP people responding to threads on this list is certainly
appreciated. And the true dialogue that takes place clearly helps
HP to better meet its customer's needs.

Now if we could just get the marketing types online that decide
how HP is going to position the HP3000 and what products it will
offer on the HP3000 ... :-)

[Dream state off]

Back to the mundane. Since the MPE/iX spooler does not support
LAN-attached printers, perhaps representatives of ISVs with
products that do talk to LAN-attached printers could enlighten us
with information on how they handle recovery issues. This would
complete the picture on options for printer control and recovery
as we move away from the HP-IB interface.
