The method I use will not give you immediate notification of
aborted jobs, but it doesn't require any JCL modifications or
IF-THEN-ELSE programming, so long as the $STDLIST of the job
is preserved/deferred on the system.
I run this command as part of my logon UDC (for "manager"
type logons only, not end-users):
LISTSPF @;SELEQ=[JOBABORT=TRUE]
This lists the $STDLIST's of any jobs that have aborted.
