A user brought to my attention that she gets the following error message
when she enters the posix shell:
cannot open script "/etc/profile": Permission denied
I checked the /etc/profile and sure enough it has -r--r----- access (0440).
Then I checked the other files and noticed that all the non-symbolic link
files had this same access. When checking an MPE/iX 5.0 system, they all
had -r--r--r-- (0444). This has got to be a mistake, but I need to know how
it happened. Did it happen during the upgrade to 5.5? Or perhaps a patch?
Or something else? BTW, I plan on putting these files back to 0444 but am
now wondering what other files might have been modified. Any help is
appreciated.
