The sad fact is, just about everytime I post to a public newsgroup,
I will get spam starting the very day, and it continues for several days,
trailing off over time. Most start out with something about how I asked
for it, thanks for my request, etc. They are of course, lying.
Then there are the illegal pyramid schemes that often start out saying
"this is completely legal!" which is my clue that it is not legal.

Many provide instructions on how to get off of the list, but I suspect
that following their instructions

A) makes them money because I go to their web page
B) Tells them they have a live one and puts you on still more lists.

Some of the spam would make a drunken pirate blush, so I hate to think
of this getting sent to young impressionable kids.
