I heard that one of them (Falwell maybe?) recanted.

|First, Revs. Falwell & Robertson are exercising a basic right - Freedom of
|Speech, one of those very freedoms for which America stands.  They also
|feel the call to obey 'God rather than man'.

|Secondly, having said this, I do not see that singling out certain groups
|and activities is the way to go - this finger-pointing serves only to
|create division among us.  On the Sunday after the terrorist attacks, our
|Pastor urged the congregation to repent, first as individuals and also as a
|nation.  He stressed that while God may have permitted the forces of evil
|to do this, they would certainly be brought to judgment for it.  And that
|each person ought to consider this and everything that happens, good or
|bad, to be a wake-up call to us and to our country.

|All of the 'God Bless America' sentiment is worthy, and appreciated by
|Americans who have long felt we as a nation have attempted to ignore God;
|but as Mrs. Beamer pointed out in her conversation with Larry King, her
|hope and her husband's was in a risen Christ, and they would see one
|another again.
