MPE/iX V5.0 has a new STORE option called NOTIFY which can
stream a user-defined job to do things...

MONITOR/iX on V5.0 has the ability to receive info from the
UPS system (series 9x8, etc) about the status of electrical power.
I did a test on my new 928 to determine how much reserved UPS power
I have. It is 2 hrs and 54 minutes. (HP's spec is 15-20 minutes. Wow,
how I love HP's specs. Now, if I ordered 128mB I wonder ... Oh well)

They almost had a perfect thing..
Too bad that HP did not have the foresight to allow a user to:

(1) Specify how many minutes after a building power failure has
    commenced to:

(2) Stream a user job (NOTIFY) to do neat shutdowns of applications.

The claim from the response center was that they did not want to get
into specifics of user apps. Well, they don't - anymore than the NOTIFY
option in the new :STORE.

The only other excuse I could envision is that the reserved UPS power
varies with configurations.

(1) Fix that by doing a test before production.
