Hi,
As I told you, I wanted to get my HP3000 set up as time permits.
So far, I have been able to configure TCP/IP and even enable
a telnet service.
I just couldn't find a way to automatically start those services.
I have to manually enter NETCONTROL START;NET=LAN1
and STREAM JINETD.NET.SYS every time.
second:
I get tons of errors like this:
12:27/170/Output spooler, LDEV #204: FDEVICECONTROL error.
As far as I found out, this means that a printer was configured
which isn't there anymore. How do I unconfigure the printer?
It also seems to me that those errors disappear as soon as I
start TCP/IP, which gives me the idea that the printer is a network
printer. Still, I would like to get rid of that printer.
third:
when I boot the system, it always stops at the ISL prompt and
tells me that there is no auto boot file. I then have to enter
START to boot the box. How do I set up the AUTO entry?
I guess, I'm looking for something like mkboot on HP-UX.
last:
can anybody recommend a good place to start reading
documentation? I would ideally like to read some sysadmin
basics where the most common tasks are described.
In many cases the problem is that I just don't know what I
am looking for. I spend quite some time to find out that
NMMGR is used to configure TCP/IP.
There was a "MPE/iX System Administration Handbook"
available which would be great, but it's either not available
anymore or prices for used books are insane.
regards,
Dennis
