Hi,

I thought this would come up:

[1] Somebody else mentioned that Catholics were against masturbation,
because this was the (potential) prevention of human beings. Though I
think Onan was given a pretty clear directive from God, and went against
it, so I am not sure it should be a general rule.

Onan's sin wasn't what it is conventionally considered to be.  Rather,
it's because he refused God's directive to impregnate his dead brother's
wife (Genesis 38:8-10) and raise them as his own.

(We should change the subject of this thread to "Increasingly way, WAY
Off-topic!)
