It was pointed out earlier in this thread that while using Line Modify, one
would have to be careful with the initial prompt. It was said that the
terminal would remember what was prompted and what was typed and only send the
type in stuff. This was unreliable. One of the more arcane tricks around this
was to set the "Start column" to a value that would be one greater than the
number of characters emitted by the prompt. In the olden days of the
seventies, MPE only issued the ":". BASIC issued ">". Of course, if you were
editing a BASIC program you would set the Start column to 1.
I just checked Reflection and sure enough, under Terminal setup, the
Advanced... button takes you to a window with the start column and other
specifications. Tres cool, indeed.
