To all AND Mr. Akmani:

I had a similar experience yesterday on my old DTC 16 that the hint to
correcting my problem was given by the indubitable Mr. Chuck Shimada of
SCRUG fame:

It seems sometimes that DTC 16 ports simply go bad.  To check this out do
a reset of the port or card or dtc with TERMDSM.  TERMDSM will report if
there are bad ports.  In that case reconfigure some other ports and try
again.
