Further experiments here seem to confirm your suspicions. Looks as if
I'll have to do it the long way - byte by byte by byte. :<<

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] FCONTROL 25 not working.
A new thought struck me yesterday.
It could be that FCONTROL (item=25) only works for terminals and not
files.
Thus testing by feeding a test file as stdin gets the following results.
Keven
Fox 13:listf cti,2
TUE, OCT 4, 2005, 8:47 AM
ACCOUNT= UNIX GROUP= TOOLS
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
CTI 80B FA 1 1 1 16 1 1
Fox 13:print cti
keven'
Fox 13:ctp<cti
Additional EOR not set.
Fcheck=+0000
FREAD=+0010 error=+0000
Buffr=keven'
Fox 13:run ctp;stdin=cti
Additional EOR not set.
Fcheck=+0000
FREAD=+0010 error=+0000
Buffr=keven'
END OF PROGRAM
