esc: (that is escape then a colon - not semi-colon so on most keyboards you
must shift up).

esc; (escape semi-colon) turns echo off.

Subject: [HP3000-L] shell functionality

OK, so I'm tooling along in the shell, and I type something like
shell/iX>man ls

after which I get a page of man text. If I hit the spacebar, I get the next
page. If I hit control-Y, the man page is terminated, but echo is left
turned off, resulting in something like...
shell/iX>
                  shell/iX>
                            shell/iX>
                                      shell/iX>
                                                shell/iX>
                                                          shell/iX>

how do I turn echo back on from inside the shell? (outside, :SET ECHO=ON
works just great).
