Hello Listers,

We are looking at relational database solutions for a new application. The
data that will feed this new database will come from our current production
TurboImage databases. I am pursuing ALLBASE/SQL as an option and I don't
know anything about it so I thought I would ask all of you smart folks. Here
is a list of questions that I have...

1) If you are using ALLBASE/SQL what are you using it for and what
problems/limitations if any have affected you.
2) Is it possible to create an index on a TurboImage field in a dataset so
that I can get indexed access to Image using an external key.
3) What tools are available that will move data from a TurboImage database
to an ALLBASE database? I am particularly interested in something that will
do this on the fly. I have some ideas for this but, any additional ideas
would be great. Also do I need to do this? I know I can get relational
access to IMAGE through IMAGE/SQL but, do I have the same relational
functionality as I do accessing ALLBASE/SQL? I think I may need to put my
data into ALLBASE anyway so that I can change the structure of it.
4) Does ALLBASE/SQL support stored procedures.
5) Basically what I am trying to do is keep our data in one place. I want to
keep our environment as simple as possible with as few systems as possible
any additional information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone out there has created a data warehouse on the 3000 I am interested
in hearing how you did this. Currently they are looking at creating a NT
solution using Sequel Server and having data fed real-time from the 3000
using the Netbase Bridge product. I am trying to change their minds...please
help.

Sincerely,
Joshua Johnson
