There are other folk on this list that can probably give you better answers
than me, but since I don't see any other replies I'll barge in.

This looks to me as if you have missing modem signals (most of the modem
FSERRs are unbelievably obscure! It probably takes two or three minutes to
get the FSERR 68 because there is a timer on the Fopen). Make sure you
have a correctly wired cable (2X3, 4X8, 6X20 and 7-7 should do it). Set up
the modem so that DSR and DCD are on and so that the modem returns to
command mode when DTR drops. You should probably make sure that S0=0 (no
auto-answer) as a modem set up this way doesn't work properly as a dial-in
modem. By the way, the setup I have described will cause the lights on the
modem to cycle every couple of minutes since you are fooling the DTC into
believing that someone is dialling in but never logging on!

Somewhere in the archives of this list there is a discussion of this whole
problem. With MPE/iX and DTCs, you have to make some trade-offs that can
get a little ugly.

If this doesn't work for you, Gary, e-mail me privately and I can send you
a LOT more detail. By the way, Fcopy usually works as well.

This particular question keeps rearing its ugly head. I put an item on the
MPE Improvement ballot at the last IPROF meeting, but it didn't get many
votes, presumably because not too many people run into this type of problem
or they don't know what to ask for when they do.
