Hi all,
I just wanted to summarize some of the things that we (ORERUG members)
learned from Nick Earle, Director

Nick pointed out that HP is committed to the 3k ... if for no other reason
they recognize that the 3k provides an excellent revenue source! :)

Nick told us that the HP-UX and 9K market is a 3.2 BILLION sales area for HP
and that the R&D done for the 9k also is applied where possible to the 3k! This
was something I have not heard stated by HP before.

I was very happy to hear this... and boy... 3.2 Billion? that is a big
number... Also, now that Lew Platt has announced the numbers I guess I can state
them here... Looks like HP is now a 40 Billion dollar company!!! This is BIG!!!
hehehe

There was some great information put out, by Nick, about the plans for HP's
boxes... both 9k and the 3k lines. The question of IA-64 for the 3k was
discussed with the answer basically being that HP is exploring this option...
and that HP DOES know that we (the 3k community) want this :)

Look for more info about ORERUG soon! Also, remember if you want to be on our
electronic newsletter distribution list you have but to let me know!
