From what I recall, posix uses file descriptors, or handles.  The name
doesn't matter.  Once the file is opened, in posix you can even rm the file.
The file is still there, just the entry from the directory listing is gone.
When the last accessor releases the file, then the descriptor is released
and the inodes (where the actual data is stored) are freed.

How
        does it work, that is, what's really happening with the files?  I
have to
        assume the SET/SHOWCATALOG settings remain pointed to the original
version;
        does mv just build a link, or???
