Another way to do it is to select the records you need , one dataset at a
time (or maybe joined?) in Query, SAVE the result to a flat file, ftp that
and process it, using Query Form <dataset> for your layout spec. Depending
on the destination box, you may run into trouble with floating point
values...

Subject: [HP3000-L] TurboImage file extracts

Hi people.

I'm a total HP-3000 newbie. Sorry to bother. Hope this is a silly
question.

My company has an HP3000.
Login information shows:

HP3000 Release: C.60.00 User Version: C.60.00
MPE/iX HP31900 C.16.01

We use PowerHouse 8.19.C4.
According to the qshow command, the Powerhouse tables are stored in
TurboImage files.

My goal is to pull the underlying files off the box via FTP (in binary mode)
and walk through the data, pulling out the text and binary fields as needed.

I may need to do this often, and would prefer the logic to run on a
different box since on-box file extracts are very slow and impact other
people's usage.

I can pull the record layout via the "show file" command, but I need to map
the underlying files to the Powerhouse table names. Any idea where I'll
find that?

Also, I'll need to extract the data, and a visual dump shows what looks like
a header record followed by data records, and the data records seem not to
fill out the apparent block of data, which seems to be padded.

Lots of "looks" and "seems", ehh?

Can someone point me to an explanation / layout of the Turboimage format?

Thanks
