Paul,

Jeff Vance volunteered to contact the 3rd party vendors - I recall I
suggested that a invitation to support the 918/DX program would be more
credible coming from HP. The issue of 3rd party support is really up to
us.

Is this a really an issue that SIG Consult wants to pursue? It does
cost these guys $'s just to cut the tape, log the sale, postage & handling
etc.

As for details:
o VESoft - $450. This was the one I was most concerned about as we never
(as I recall) heard a peep from them during the '908' discussion on the
HP3000-L. I do wonder what the annual support costs will be.

o Adager - I was amused to note that Bradmark, not to be outdone, offered
theirs for no cost. All this after Alfredo's $450 offering really helped
get HPs attention for the idea in the first place.

o Lund - for a development system why?

o Robelle - I know it's 'standard' but if I had to I would use something
else (Quad, Fascade?, Wispertech).

Maybe we should ask for HP's full screen editor on the 918/DX. This
makes alot of sense - Jeff Vance?

>>My understanding of the initial offering of the HP3000 918 DX was that
the
price was going to try to be around $7,000. This was before an every
increasing list of
software vendors (which I think is good, but..). Is the price going to
stay around
$7,000, or is the system priced at $7,000 plus $450 for Adager, plus $400
for Lund, plus
$295 for QSS, plus $600 for Robelle plus $450 for VESoft, plus whatever 52%
off of something costs?

Is this price now creaping backup there again to a level that is out of
range
for the smaller
developer?<<
