No, I think you meant "bridging".  You can't route the DTC protocol, you
have to bridge it.  However, it's best to filter out the other stuff like
IPX,etc. otherwise your serial link will got horribly clogged with
unnecessary garbage.  I went through the agony with a Cisco router about a
year ago, but unfortunately I don't remember the details (the settings
aren't that difficult but they do have to be absolutely right).

Because the whole thing finishes up working a bit like a stat mux (remember
those things) the performance should be quite good (depending on what else
is going on (reloading from the e3000 is probably the worst but hopefully
you don't do that too often!).
