As I understand it, the DIRECTORY option has the disconcerting habit of
storing and looking as if it is restoring more than you really want it
to, when in fact it is storing and all of the directory information; in
your case, perhaps the directory for the original volumeset. Try a
RESTORE... ;LISTDIR to see what was actually stored. This behavior has
caused no small amount of excitement here, especially when we built our
first private volumeset, and it looked like everything was restoring to
the system vs, when only the directory itself was being restored (at
that moment).
