You're gonna need to be able to proxy tcp ports 1537 and/or 1570, or set up
the firewall to allow clean pass-thru on those ports between the two systems
in question. I don't know the firewall you've got so I don't know if it can
or how easy it'll be to do.

Note that when you :DSLINE remotesys you get a prompt back if your 3000 knows
who the remote is, but this doesn't mean you really connected. It's only when
you do the :REMOTE and hit return that it actually tries to connect.
