My source is often the CE Handbook...here are some part numbers:

   9x7

HP 3000 and HP 9000 PA-RISC Computer Systems
      CE Handbook
Series 9x7 Family, Model 8x7S Family, and Model 800 X Class
      p/n A1707-90016
      (edition 4 - E1292)

      (formerly called:)

HP 3000 and HP 9000 PA-RISC Computer Systems
      CE Handbook
Series 9x7 Family and Model 8x7S Family
      p/n A1707-90016
      (edition 2 - E0292)

   9x8

HP 3000 and HP 9000 PA-RISC Computer Systems
      CE Handbook
Series 9x8LX/RX Family and Model 800 Ex5 Class
      p/n A2051-90003
      (edition 1 - E1293)

NOTE:
These are marked "For HP Internal Use Only".
Despite that, we were able to order the 9x7 manual with no
problems. However, when we discovered the part number of the 9x8
manual, we weren't allowed to order it.

I personally think HP should make these manuals easily available
to customers!

Going beyond that, I'd strongly consider refusing to purchase any
HP 3000 or HP 9000 that I cannot get a CE handbook for!
