My problem where :STORE was getting confused and attempting to back up the
entire namespace for TPI-enabled Omnidexed TurboImage databases has been
solved by installing the following post-Express3 patches:
PATCH ID DESCRIPTION
----------------------------------------------------
MPEJX44B Increase AIF:PE limits for Hi-End systems using many 3rd party tools
MPEJXL8B STORE;PURGE and RESTORE need to recognize compressed files
MPEJXU6D SYSTEM HANG caused by dispatcher READY Q 'out of order'
TIXJXW2A User experiences deadlock between TurboIMAGE putdel and open semaphore
What was happening was for some unknown reason the TurboImage root file counter
of the number of datasets on the database was being corrupted to hex C000.
:STORE would see this huge number and attempt to back up everything from
dbname01 through dbnameZZ, generating hundreds of file not found messages
in the process.
The HPRC downloaded one of my corrupt root files and was able to reproduce
the :STORE problem on older (i.e. not the latest & greatest) versions of
:STORE. Unfortunately the HPRC was never able to cause a clean database
root file to become corrupted like mine were. So that aspect of the problem
is still a mystery, and my HPRC call has since been closed.
Since the HPRC did not see the problem when using their newer :STORE, they
told me to install the latest :STORE and TurboImage patches plus a few other
prerequisite patches. After installing the patches listed above, I used
OMNIUTIL.PUB.DISC to disable and re-enable TPI on all of our Omnidexed
databases. We've had no problems in the week and a half since then.
Prior to installing those patches, my previous patch activity had been
installing Express3. This problem started before I installed Express3 and
continued after I installed Express3. It was the four patches listed above
that did the trick.
