1) RUN TTUTIL.PUB.SYS in modify mode.
2) Edit TTPCL18.PUB.SYS.
3) Change the VFC escape sequences to whatever default you like.
My preference is landscape at 16 chars per inch:

ESC,'&11o8d60p2A',ESC,'(s16.666h0T'

4) Save it with a different file name than TTPCL18.PUB.SYS
5) Do a COOLSTART with I/O changes.
6) When asked for a Term-Type give the name of the new TT type file you just created.

Subject: HP Laserjet 5SI on MPE/V

We have a client running on MPE/V who has recently bought an HP LaserJet 5Si to
replace an HP LaserJet 4.

The files that our software prepares for a laser automatically have the laser
printer controls at the beginning of the file to set the laser for the required
fonts etc.

The problem our client has is that they also want to print ordinary line printer
files to the laser. The old LaserJet 4 was able to have the default print
controls set from the front panel so that a line printer file in the spooler
could be redirected to the laser. The new 5Si does not seem to have this
capability.

Does anyone know how to set default print controls on the HP LaserJet 5Si under
MPE/V without having to change the line printer spool file?
