Does anyone have any experience using a telnet connection for daily access of
business applications by end users? I have a customer with two dozen remote
sites
they need to tie into the HP. They are really too big small for a leased line,
and
too big for dial-up, which also becomes rather expensive by the time you
install
the ports, modems, and phone lines. It seems like a telnet connection would be
ideal, as long as they had good internet access on the client side.

The new security software WRQ has seems to address the security issues. What
about
performance and reliability? I have yet to learn about anyone out there that is
using telnet for other than library system and similar read-only and limited
data
entry access. They have 2 major applications they use for service
dispatching/billing and inventory/purchasing, involving a respectable amount of
data entry, inquiry, and reporting. Is anyone using this now or considering it?
