Andrew,
I believe the environment file (and it's escape sequence) will get to the
printer first, and then the sequence in the spoolfile will override it, so
no gain with the environment file unless you can either
1) prevent the program from writing the "embedded" sequence, or
2) write the output to a temp file first and run it through a filter to
remove the embedded sequence, or,
3) (klunkier) use a third-party spoolfile processor like Reveal, or (big
plug opportunity here listmembers) other. I think Reveal only allows you to
strip out no sequences or all sequences, not specific ones, though.
