I think the point that several people made, and which has not been
addressed yet, is that some of the material mailed by Interex about
HP WORLD '96 contains little or no information about the HP 3000. This isn't
opinion, but easily demonstratable fact. If Denys doubts this, I'd be
happy to fax him a copy of the mailer I received.

I, for one, haven't questioned the about of HP 3000-specific content
that will be at HP WORLD '96. I expect to be happy with the content,
assuming I am able to attend. At present, my tutorial co-presenter and
I were caught by surprise when we were told that only one of us will be
admitted under the "tutorial presenters get free admission" policy;
for whatever reason, we both thought that it would apply to both of us :(

As usual, I encourage all HP 3000 users to attend!

Hmmm...that implies a quiet social then? :)
(apparently yes, from later comments by Denys)

I don't have the call for papers in front of me, nor have I referred to it
on the 'net before, but I hope that whoever commented about it will reply.

That explains it ... the sentence applies to Interex! :) or is it: :(

In the sole piece of literature I commented on, my statements still
stand...there is no reference to the HP 3000 or MPE.

Thank you for the explanation, and thanks to HP for funding the social!

May I suggest: SIGDisneyland?

Although no dollar figures were mentioned, as a member of Interex I hope that
the *additional* people he brings in contribute more than he costs.

That's great to hear about the HP people, ... I can't recall seeing that
in print before, thanks Denys!

Reading your words carefully, however, leads the reader to assume that Jim
Wetherbe is expensive, so my above-mentioned "hope" still stands.

As for Scott Adams, I certainly enjoy his work, and would encourage the
conference staff to consider having some Dilbert-related material available
for purchase (books, T-shirts). Perhaps an autograph session can be
arranged?

And I still wonder how much Jim, Scott, and Cherryl cost. If you won't
tell us, it must not be good news.

True, although the postcard-mailer puts it somewhat differently than
we are used to seeing it, with:

the association of Hewlett-Packard Computing Professionals (Interex)
instead of:
Interex (the Association of Hewlett-Packard Computing Professionals)

Hmm...for that matter, the http://www.interex.org web site says:

You've arrived at the web site for the International Association of
Hewlett-Packard Computing Professionals known as Interex.

When did we become the group "known as Interex" instead of "Interex, the..."?

Closing note...HP WORLD '96 has a "UNIX Bootcamp" ... maybe we need an
"MPE Bootcamp" with mandatory attendance by high-level HP management
sales people? :)
