I AGREE WITH Ron.

I don't post much to the list, mostly HP3000 Q&A stuff . But every now
-N- again I might joke around (Sorry Brice) with someone.

Maybe Brain got offended too easy, maybe others on the "L" got offended
to easy, I don't know, it doesn't matter. The hurtful words probably
don't belong here on the "L", or anywhere for that matter.

I used to work in a small shop that didn't buy 3rd party software and
it was great experience. The things we designed and created there, that
was years ago on a classic box, and I am still impressed with that
software. One of the homegrown designs there happened to be Security
which was above and beyond plain vanilla M.P.E., and this security
seamlessly work in their homegrown applications, as well as at log on
time. It actually has some features that are not in Security/3000. On
the flip side, Security/3000 had many features that the homegrown
security didn't have. But that's the great thing about writing it
yourself, you get exactly what you need, no more/no less. Where buying
3rd party you pay for and get many features that you really didn't want,
and not exactly everything you need.

I understand what you are saying; although, the name calling that has
gone
on is childish. I'm saying that for all sides of this conversation. I
have
worked in small shops that can't afford to purchase 3rd party software.
 So
the only way to have system tools is to make them.

Brian, I would like to see what you have. Maybe we can make it better.
 If
it would be ok, I'd like to add it to my website.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] Security/3000 Vesoft

The only reason I wrote my own security system was out of necessity. I
refused to pay Vesoft (or anyone else for that matter) the inflated
amounts
of money they were asking for the software.

When I finally developed it, I had an epiphany. How simple it was to
put
together and how at run time it does exactly the same thing as
Vesoft's "Security/3000".

I offered it to the listers here as I know there have been many shops
I've
worked in that don't have any Vesoft products on their box, even MPEX.

Thanks to all the pyschotic listers who sent me hate mail. I laugh at
you
all. You're all a bunch of pathetic, bloated, fat mouthed, self
righteous
jackasses getting paid for nothing. I respect none of you especially
jokers by the name of Tracy "vaporware" Pierce, Chuck Ciesinski and
Shawn
Gordon. If listers aren't interested in anything I have to offer they
shouldn't reply.

Unfortunately, my innocent listing invoked a stream of hate mail,
especially from these fat mouthed jokers with nothing better to do
with
their company's time but waste it reading (and replying) to these
postings.

Easy to see how IT "professionals" have been getting overpaid for
years,
especially IT managers/directors.

All emails sent to me from HP3000-L are immediately deleted (unless you
are
someone I already know and have established a good rapport with) so
don't
even bother writing to me.
