You could use Quest Software's Shadowing product to go from a 9Gb to 4Gb
disk, to only replicate the information needed. Disk Mirroring is all or
nothing. Shadowing will do a partial. If you have a separate system you have
added protection from failure as well. Disk Mirroring vs. Shadowing on a
single system however I would go with the larger disks and Disk Mirroring.

Can you have a series of 4gb drives and 9 gb drives that are mirrored in the
same volume?  So long as the source drive and it's mirror are the same size.
