try the user's name in smb.conf in uppershift first and re-open the share
for this user.
then remember: Samba/iX strictly follows MPE security!

Learned listers:
I am having trouble with Samba (207). I have set up a share in smb.conf:
[qssprod]
comment = share for QSSPROD
path = /QSSPROD/PUB
username = mgr.qssprod
writeable = Yes
guest ok = Yes
And when I open up the directory I can see the file that is already in
pub.qssprod:
ACCOUNT= QSSPROD GROUP= PUB
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
TEST 1B BA 205 2147483647 1 16 1 *
But when I try to drag a file there using Windows Explorer, I get the
message (from Windows 2k):
Cannot copy VOLGMT64: Access is denied. The source file may be in use.
I have the feeling that it is an erroneous message (the file isn't in use)
and if I leave the path at /tmp, I can drop it just fine. The engineer at
the response center thought that I may not be able to drop it into the MPE
filespace and that it had to go into a posix directory. That seemed kind
of
strange to me.
So, is there another setting I need to allow me to drop into PUB.QSSPROD?
BTW, I do have SWAT running, which is MUCH easier than vi ;>)
TIA,
Gary Jackson
