Subject: [HP3000-L] new job for Jeff V

Hi all,

I apologize for the impersonal nature of this email and the fact that
I'm telling some of you late, but I want to let you know that I have a
new job.
I now work for Quintessential School Systems (QSS) in San Mateo. They
develop, sell, and support quality financial apps for public school
districts K-12, and have a generous share of the Calif market.

I have the title of "Senior Technologist" and all I know for sure is
they got the "senior" part right! I am starting off learning the Ruby
language and using it in a Ruby on Rails framework for new web apps.
I'm actually working on a customer-facing app right now and will be
doing pre-beta testing with customers shortly! So far the job is great.
I even have an office with a door -- wow!. The company is small and I
like that I'll get to wear several different hats and learn the business
more intimately. QSS is located in the Bayview Tower in San Mateo, right
near the intersection of Hwy 92 and El Camino Real, for those of you in
the area.

San Mateo is a long ways from the Santa Cruz Mtns, where I live. My
first week I did the 100 mile round trip commute on my motorcycle, which
was fine and faster since I was able to use the carpool lanes. Still, it
took about
70-75 minutes each way, and it would have been 15+ more minutes if I was
in a car. Several of the guys here take the train to work and convinced
me to give it a try. I've now commuted two weeks via light rail and
Caltrain. The system works great and I'm hooked. I even bring my bicycle
on the train and there are opportunities do lunch rides in a nearby park
(with miles of singletrack trails!).

I very much enjoyed my years at HP and the chance to meet some really
smart, energetic, generous, and friendly customers and partners. CSY
helped shape my respect for customers and my desire to help them do
their job better. I look forward to the same at QSS.

My contact info is:

So that's the news. I wish you all the best.
