Hey, 3000-L Team:

I have 2 tape drives (DDS 2: Ldev 7,8) on a 929; every morning I get a status report listing devices, etc and any relevant statistics. Normally I see 5 or 6 errors on each drive but have observed times when there are a good deal more. This AM I view 10 and 13 respectively. As recent as 3 months ago a drive failed and we replaced same (drive 8).
The drives are utilized exclusively for Store and Restore operations and are obviously intergral to our operating environment.

What I am asking the list is: Should I be contacting our hardware support firm to have them replace one or both drives?

Calls at 12:10AM by Operation staff on a drive failure are never a good deal, eh?

Kindest
