In setting up a connection to a MiLan FastPort box I've been experiencing
the following aggravating situation. The FastPort has a valid, unique IP
address. An entry for it exists in my HOSTS.NET.SYS file. Using that
entry I can telnet to its port 2002 from the HP3000. I can ping the IP
address from the HP3000.

However, my IPC client that writes to its port 2001 always gets a
DESTINATION UNREACHABLE message when trying to initiate a connection with
the FastPort. This same IPC client can initiate connections with numerous
other systems.

I can initiate a connection from my PC using a WinSock client for the same
IP address and port combo. However I cannot initiate a connection from the
HP3000 to the FastPort on that port using IPC calls in the same way I do
for other connections.

I'm relatively net-no-nothing. Can anyone elucidate my situation?

Thanks,
Russell
