Sharing printers between a local 3000 w/DTC 16 ix and a remote 9000?

On one end an HP 3000 MPE with a DTC 16ix serving 4 serial printers on
the other an HP 9000.  Each network has an IP router.

The goal is to have the 9000 be able to send print jobs to the
deptartmental printers that hang off the 3000's DTC, while continuing to
allow the 3000 to do the same.

Does anyone know of any utilities or have any suggestions as to how this
can be accomplished?
