I tried tin (in NNTP mode) long ago and ran into some pretty intense
curses and other tty-control issues that I couldn't get resolved, and
couldn't get much help on.  John Sullivan, formerly of Interex, heard
my plea and admitted having tried to port it as well with similar
results.  lpr/lpd might be nice.
