Connie asks: "Any comments from those of us who remember that day -
where we were, how we saw the photos, etc?"
I was a 15 year-old Boy Scout at our annual summer camp that week in
1969. In keeping with the significance of the event, I was allowed to
bring my 9" B&W portable TV to camp that week just so we could watch the
landing and first steps. It was later than we were normally up at camp
(10:30 until well after midnight as I recall), but it was also a pretty
special event. Scouts and leaders from several other troops found their
way to our campsite to watch. As soon as the broadcast was over, the TV
was 'returned' to the locked car of the Scout Master for the remainder
of the week.
