Except for ERASE.

I really appreciate all of the answers I got abut emptying an NM KSAM,
and have summarized them and forwarded them to my peers involved in our
project here, and am already using the file equation / purge approach. I
love the idea of building the file once, and just emptying it when done.
But I can see where if one is used to having these in KSAMUtil, and
can't use them on NM KSAM files, one gets disappointed. OTOH, I do like
the elegance of files being files, regardless. OTOH, IMAGE is rather a
counter-example to files just being files.

So, there's a great way to erase, and build, purge, and rename are
pretty straight forward (well, build may be a matter of opinion on that
count), but does everyone know that you can LISTFILE,7 to get
information like you would from VERIFY or KEYINFO? I remember learning
this, not that long ago. What about KEYDUMP or KEYSEQ, or SAVE? Of
course, I know more about programming indexed files in COBOL than I know
about KSAM files per se, so I speak from a wealth of ignorance here. I
suppose that much of this is in a Communicator in one place...

Thanks, Jim, and Craig Fairchild in another message, for helping to
address these issues.
