Can you elaborate?

Are you getting an error message, or are you just hanging?

If you are hanging, what happens if you wait a full 120 seconds?

I think -l might be attempting to do an IP address to hostname DNS lookup.  If
your DNS stuff in /etc/resolv.conf is misconfigured, or if the configured DNS
servers do not respond, this might account for the hang.
