Hello listers,

I'm sorry that this didn't get posted on the day of release, June 15...but I
was 38,000 feet above the Atlantic on my way to England at the time. Since
then I have not been able to access e-mail. However, I'm here now and I
think that I have some news that will please a lot of HP 3000 users...

COGNOS® ANNOUNCES FLEXIBLE PRICING FOR POWERHOUSE® ON HP 3000 BUSINESS
SERVERS

BURLINGTON, MA, June 15, 1999 -- Cognos® (NASDAQ:COGN; TSE:CSN) today
announced the introduction of new flexible pricing for the Cognos
PowerHouse® application development tools on Hewlett-Packard company's HP
3000 line of business servers. Today's announcement reconfirms Cognos'
commitment to its application development customers and the HP 3000
platform, offering pricing that is more consistent with HP's own software
tier licensing system.

The flexible pricing will allow Cognos customers to choose the most
appropriate pricing package to suit their environments and requirements.
While current licensing is CPU-based, the new alternative pricing structure
is based on the same software tiers and maximum users-per-machine used by HP
to license the Fundamental Operating Software for its HP 3000 range, making
the process transparent and consistent for HP 3000 customers.

"We're very pleased to offer a choice of pricing to our HP 3000 customers,"
said Alan Rottenberg, Cognos senior vice president of marketing and business
strategy. "This commitment both strengthens Cognos' long-standing
relationship with HP and brings much greater flexibility in how our HP 3000
customers choose to acquire and use PowerHouse - still the most productive
business application development environment available today."

"Cognos' new flexible pricing for PowerHouse ensures that HP 3000 customers
can leverage one of the most productive business application developments
tools in a cost-effective manner", said Harry Sterling, general manager of
HP's Commercial Systems Division. "We're pleased to work with Cognos to
continue providing seamless HP 3000 enterprise solutions."
